Readings
- None… unless you need to catch up!
Prayer
A day off from reading is not a day off from praying or living as a Christian. Pray for something that’s on your heart today.
Day 5 – Day Off

So, every Sunday we have a day off from reading. See day 3’s discussion about the Sabbath to see why! It’s either a chance for you to sit back and reflect on what we’ve done over the past week, or, in the case of a few of you, to do some early catch up.
If you’re already a day or so behind, consider this message a friendly arm round the shoulder of encouragement to be a little more intentional. We’re only four days in – catch up on Sunday and you’ll be fine. But, you know that being behind ain’t much fun. It gives your readings an air of stress and rush, which won’t be helpful. It’s far more enjoyable reading along with everyone else each day, knowing that all three of you (and the increasing number of adults reading too!) are reading the exact same things, and carving out the same 25 minutes from their busy day, and spending time with God and His Word.
As I said on our WhatsApp chat earlier today, I know my notes aren’t particularly short at the moment, so I’m glad that we have this day to breath and to take stock of the incredibly deep and thought-provoking passages we’ve so far read. Things will get a little lighter as we move onwards, although this coming week we still have some great stuff to get our teeth stuck into, including Cain & Abel, Noah and the Tower of Babel… and a fun change of pace on Saturday 11th.
I look forward to hearing how you’re getting on at whichever service I see you at. Maybe you could bring your book along and show me how you’ve started to fill it, but only if you want to, of course.
Most Sundays I’ll either reflect on something of the week, or try and give you some encouragement in some fashion or another. If you want to chat or share some things you’ve enjoyed or helped you, Sundays might be a good day to post something on our WhatsApp chat (which I can add you to if you’re not yet on it, grown-ups!).
If you have 15 free minutes, you may find it helpful to watch a brief overview of the book of Genesis. It’s optional, but helpful.
